The Oxford chair designed by the world-famous Arne Jacobsen reborn
Fabulous re-engineering - more beautiful than ever |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Oxford has been re-engineered to reflect the timeless silhouette
of the original almost 40-year old design. Not only is the Oxford
chair now much closer to
the original chair - it is also a supreme
chair of today - for meeting, working
or lounging. Oxford was
originally designed for the Oxford college
by Arne
Jacobsen in 1963 and added
to Fritz Hansen's collection in 1965. |

| |
Over the years, Oxford had gained too much padding and
the time had come
to put Oxford on a diet. The result
is a slim, elegant chair – slightly wider
and deeper
than the original
but even more beautiful. The Oxford
range
still includes
a low and high back version, on
castors or toes, and
a brand-new chrome base may
be the icing on the cake.
A new
lounge chair has been
added to the series
– perfect for
waiting and relaxing.

Oxford – Back to the future We welcome a younger and reengineered Oxford chair to the House of Copenhagen Collection.
The distinctive profile of Oxford is more elegant, slimmer and more classic than ever. Opt for the high back, low back, arms, castors, mirror chromed base, leather or even the Paul Smith fabric - or one of the other versions. Although the design is 40 years old, Oxford is a contemporary and fresh addition to any environment.

We are introducing Bespoke Stripe by Paul Smith.
Oxford may be upholstered in a fabric celebrating its world debut: The Bespoke Stripe
fabric designed by Paul Smith for Maharam USA. It was Maharam who invited British
fashion designer
Paul Smith to focus his wit on the world of furniture textiles.
Bespoke
Stripe is an
upholstery
textile inspired by Smith's light-hearted take
on traditional
British
tailoring.
Bespoke stripe is available in a classic menswear palette, including
black,
two
rich browns and two greys. Bespoke is a delicate but very strong
fabric
made
of 100% worsted wool. Moreover, other suitable fabrics
for
Oxford include
Tonus, Topas, Hallingdal, Divina as well as
Comfort
micro fiber.
The Oxford in leather
Due to advanced technology and other favorable
circumstances, we are now able to deliver the Oxford
chair
with leather upholstery - not only in the thick natural
leather but
also in the smooth Soft Leather. One of the
positive results is a
considerable price reduction.
The colors are tan, red, black,
black-brown, dark natural.

To meet
Oxford adds an extra and exquisite dimension to the meeting room. Although we do recommend to get up once in a while and walk, the comfort of Oxford is impeccable regardless of the hours you have
to stay in the room.
This low version of Oxford could
just as easily have been provided with castors - or why not opt for a high-backed version to make the room even more sophisticated in
a high-profile company.
