A kitchen counter must be both beautiful and functional. Knud Kapper designs the kitchen counter using only drawers. This is done in order to optimize the space. Even the drawer beneath the sink is customized to provide storage space while gliding easily in and out. Everything from pots and pans, to plates, bowls, or ladles may be stored in the larger drawers. These may be fitted with steel fronts—incredibly beautiful with the solid hardwood. The drawers are available in three heights and a multitude of widths, offering an almost endless amount of possibilities.
A classic is born
Knud Kapper has created tomorrow’s kitchen classic for the Scandinavian market, and has now in partnership with House of Copenhagen made it available in the US. Crafted in Denmark by Hansen & CO – the finish and quality is impeccable!

Can you smell the wood? it is a fantastic material – it has a great scent, is impossible to wear out, and when used it becomes even more beautiful. Hansen & Co. meets your demand, whether you prefer Maple, Beech, German White Oak or rather the darker Walnut, Wenge, or Brazilian Rosewood. All wood used in the process to create this unique kitchen is personally selected by Knud Kapper. Click on the images below and you will understand why demanding Scandinavian consumers are excited about the craftsmanship and appreciate all the fine details, making this kitchen the ultimate cooking and meeting place for the whole family.
Danish Craftsmanship
Architect Knud Kapper has always worked closely together with skilled craftsmen in developing his design. This is evident in the detail and selection of materials.
Mortised joints were traditionally used in most furniture. Today's furniture makers generally use screws or nails. Not Hansen & Co., “we use mortised joints because we value their enormous strength and stability—and beauty.”
All drawers are constructed using dovetails and have perforated steel bottoms. Along with its hidden, durable hinges the Hansen & Co. drawers are unsurpassed in functionality and artisanship.
After the furniture has been built, the finish becomes the most important process—completing the look. The furniture is sanded repeatedly so that it appears to have an almost silk-like surface that is irresistible to touch.

The Mobile is a natural extension of the Cooking Island or Countertop. Its versatility allows for additional work or storage space, while also working as a Service Table in the dining room or it may also function as a movable breakfast table—especially popular with the children. The Mobile stands on solid lockable castors and easily stores utensils, napkins, candles, etc.

The elegant High-Cabinet with doors made of matt hardened glass provides a practical overview of porcelain, glasses, jars, bowls, olive oils, breadbaskets, appliances, cookbooks…

Knud Kapper regards design as an art form, much in the same way as gastronomy. His admiration for professional chefs has provided him with an interest in, and an insight into, the construction of the chef’s indispensable tool—the kitchen.
