Veverka Architects is a creative, design-oriented firm. Our designs reflect the notion that our clients are central to the spaces around them. What unifies our work is not a rigid style, but quality and a reflection of our clients’ unique personalities. As architects, we bring our expertise-the art of aesthetics, innovation, and function--to the project team and coordinate input from all others involved into a complete and satisfying project.

We are a five-person firm in San Francisco, founded in 1986. Our work has included commercial renovations, UMB upgrades, office tenant improvements, and residential projects, both new construction and additions/alterations. We have prided ourselves as being generalists, with no specialty except for our relish in tackling tough problems.

Our work has been exceptionally diverse, ranging from substance abuse treatment programs to television broadcast studios to high-end residential projects. However one cannot practice for as long as we have without ending up with some specialties, if only by simple repetition. We have become especially good at three kinds of projects: Renovations, Office Interiors and High-End Residential. We have designed many Residential projects over the years, from simple kitchen and bathroom remodels to elaborate 8,000 square foot homes on the San Francisco Peninsula. Single-family homes can be exciting from a design standpoint as well from the simple satisfaction of the owners’ needs. We do residential projects well.

Renovations include Commercial and Residential. We are especially adept at projects located in San Francisco as we are expert in this city’s complex building and planning department requirements, as well as their tortuous permit processes. The repair of unreinforced masonry buildings (UMB’s) is a sub-specialty, and we have teamed with a structural engineer, a general contractor and a leasing agent to offer full services to our clients. We love design-oriented Office Interiors of any size. People spend a great percentage of their time at work. Their office environments should be pleasant and uplifting. A wonderful work environment can be good for morale and increase productivity. Projects such as the one we designed for Ibis Consulting (now Proxicom), utilizing inexpensive materials used in non-standard ways have whetted our appetites for other such commissions.
