Within the research at Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects we seek an opportunity to engage the operative layers of the urban landscape with respect to spatial, sensory and experiential information. It is through this rigorous research that we apply a consistent vision to this exploration at various scales. By engaging in both spatial and critical thinking, we hope to contribute to the emerging shape of the contemporary city. |

| Concurrently, our ongoing research into new materials and methods of fabrication allow us to rediscover the relationship between material and design. This commitment to material systems follows two parallel tracks: First, we seek new and unique applications for typical building materials such as wood slats, concrete, off-the-shelf hardware and window systems. Second, we research new materials and attempt to understand ways that these may be applied to buildings and, in a larger context, to cities. In this way, continual research combines with varying building scales, programs, and spatial investigations to create a body of work that constantly evolves and continues to explore new directions in architectural innovation. |
